Privacy notice

Who we are

Constellation is a dating and relationships app for the polyamorous community. This notice explains what personal information we collect when you use it, why we collect it, who we share it with (almost no-one), and the rights you have over it. For any privacy question, write to privacy@constellation.dating.

What we collect

• Your email address, only to send you sign-in magic links. We do not use it for marketing.
• Your profile: display name, pronouns, gender, orientation, relationship style, age, photos, bio, and an optional approximate location. You choose what to fill in and you control who sees it.
• Your constellation: the people you've added as members and the relationship type and colour you assigned each one. Other users only see members you've both confirmed.
• Your activity: swipes (likes / passes), shooting stars sent and received, matches, message history, blocks, and reports.
• Technical telemetry: when you last opened the app (to drive the "active now" indicator), the device you signed in from, and basic error logs that exclude message content.

What we do not collect

• We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
• We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
• We do not share your profile with users you've blocked or who've blocked you.

Who can see what

• Your constellation members can only be seen by another user if both you and the member have confirmed the relationship.
• Direct messages are visible only to the two participants and to Constellation operators in the event of a moderation report.
• Read receipts are per-user: you see another user's read indicator only if they have read receipts enabled, and your reads are visible to others only if you've enabled them. You can toggle this under Account settings → Privacy.
• Block a user and they disappear from your discover, search, matches, and chat. They cannot see your profile and cannot contact you.

Where the data lives

All personal data is stored in a Postgres database hosted in the EU. Photos are stored in Vercel Blob in the EU region. Emails are sent through Resend. Real-time message delivery uses Pusher. We do not transfer your data outside of regions covered by GDPR, and our processors are contractually bound to the same.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data at any time. The fastest way to exercise these rights is in the app: edit your profile under the Profile tab, or hit the Delete account button under Account settings. Deletion cascades to all your profile data, swipes, matches, messages, and constellation memberships. Moderation reports filed about you persist (with you anonymised) so we can keep the community safe.

Cookies

The app uses a single first-party authentication cookie (the JWT bearer token, scoped to app.constellation.dating) to keep you signed in. We do not use any tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies on this website or in the app.

Children

Constellation is for users 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you learn of an account belonging to someone under 18, please report it via the in-app block-and-report flow or by emailing reports@constellation.dating and we will investigate.

Changes to this notice

If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and notify active users by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
